Almost finished with the "Good Computer Practice" Tip Sheet(s)
My good computer practice tip sheet is slightly longer than a sheet. It's good practice, though, to review some of the ways we use computers. Amazingly enough after using computers for ten years, I've only recently discovered how much time can be saved with apple-selecting. I was able to take data out of a Web table and put it in an Excel sheet very quickly without having to delete tons of extra cells - all because I was able to select only what I need with apple-selecting.

Best Computer Practices
Right now I'm working on a list of best computer practices to cover before we begin our creative work. Most importantly, we have two critical friends : apple-Z and apple-S. Use them both wisely. Well, use apple-S all the time, if you can! There's nothing more frustrating than losing work.I hope to cover the components of a computer; the tools of creative digital work; clicking, double-clicking, selecting, dragging, and right-clicking; folder structure and using your computer to organize information; file-naming conventions (and how they help organization); menus, keystrokes, and preferences; copies and backing up; and lastly, how not to freak out!
Classes start on Tuesday
Our first Art 109 class will be on Tuesday, August 21 from 3:00 to 5:10 PM in CY 210. I'm very excited to roll up some sleeves and get going with some exciting creative computer projects!
